Evaluation 3

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
Our production company is called KRC Production, so we came up with this name when we decided to put our initials to the production name because we thought was easier for us to remember and because it was more charming. We made the font blue because it stood out on the black background which made it easier to read and see. The font for the "KRC" part was called adobe caslon pro and added bold to it to make it stand out, we decided to go with this front type because it made look smart and clear to read. We also made the front size 217 because we wanted it bigger than the "productions" was in a front called bold italic, we decided to go with this front type because we wanted the "KRC" part to standout more than the productions. The front size was also smaller at the size of 68 because we thought it looked better smaller and under neath the "KRC".

Production company are used to to create their film and to assist in budgeting, scheduling, casting and more. They are also responsible for finding a director and the majority of the cast/acting talent.

Evaluation 2

How does your media product represent particular social group?

This is picture of the main protagonist of our film "Knocked Out". The picture shows that main hero are wearing dark-brown coat, which confirms the stereotypes of the action-thriller genre films. This is the picture of the Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson). The main protagonist of the "Taken" trilogy. We can see that main hero are wearing black jacket, which looks very strict, serious and manly.

These costumes represent middle class of people, who are not poor or rich. The main character of "Knocked Out" is secret agent who is age is about 18-22, but the main hero of "Taken" is retired agent, who is quiet old about 40-50 years old.

Evaluation 1

In what ways does your media products use develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Titles of our film
Our media film title subverts the conventions of real media products, because the film title normally appears after the dramatic opening scene.

Setting/Location

The setting is sunny

Costume and Props
This costume confirms the general stereotypes of the villain, who's nationality is Asian. Most of the action movies show Asians like the people who are good at fighting and knows martial arts. For example they usually know kung fu, karate and taekwando, which makes them a hard oppenents and it confirms an action thriller conventions.

Opening of our two minute film

In our two minute we used many change of angle and positions like low angle and medium angle shots. For example we used close up to show emotions of the antagonist. Also, we used over the shoulder shot while Kevin (antagonist) was walking towards to Callum (antagonist). Furthermore, we used a long shot to show the action of the main hero, his action was running from his enemy. Mise-en-scene is the clothes of the main protagonist. He was wearing classic dark-brown coat, which confirms the thriller genre convention. That most of the main heroes are wearing strict costumes with dark colour. We added an intense and dramatic soundtrack, because the genre of our film is action-thriller. Then, we added punch sounds to show the realism to the viewer. The title of our film is "Knocked Out", because the main hero will be knocked out by his enemy and adding a plot twist. We used dark background and white font. We used this color, because it looks very mysterious and the genre of our is thriller.

Mood Board

This the mood board, which shows the thriller conventions. The mood board shows that thriller films usually has the criminal subjects. Also, most of the thriller films have the plot twist to amaze the viewer, this what the audience wants from the thriller genre films. A suspense, mystery and tension which is the important factors to create a successful thriller film.

Scream opening scene

The Scream shows many scary trick to scare the viewer like using screamers in unanticipated time. The Scream shows teenagers as very naughty, rude and selfish people and the audience sometimes their death, because they deserve this. The story is about mystery who the killer is, because no one knows who could be. Only at the end we see the real face of the antagonist under the mask of the psycho. The Scream uses stereotypes like brave, kind and not egoist protagonist, where he/she always survives,

The film shows the titles, which has the white color. We can hear the loud sound of telephone, which is creepy, frightening and iconic for the 80s and 90s horror films.
The next scene shows that titles changed color from white to red. The red color is the color of blood, death and cruelness. We can hear someone's scream and gun sound, which hints to the death of the character.
The first scene is a close up of a telephone. Also, the phone rings and the young woman is answering it. "Scream" uses young people as a victims, because the audience wants these kind of stereotypes in horror films. The mysterious person with creepy voice starting a conversation about her private life.
The next scene is the camera, which is starting following the girl, while she continuing talking with the maniac. Furthermore, we found that this girl is a little bit naughty, because she keeps talking with stranger. Then, the maniac "i wanna know who i am looking to", which shows that the killer in the house.
This scene is the screamer, this things wants the audience, because they want to be scared. Camera shows a close up to the mask of the psycho to scare the viewer with this close up scene.

Jeepers Creepers Opening scene

The clip shows brother and sister in the car, where they are going somewhere. In the clip i saw many use of two person shot, middle shot and one far shot. The clip used to scary the viewer with the chase scene to create effect of helplessness, because the track of the main antagonist is much more faster than protagonists' car. The clip shows the day time, which is not normal in another horror films like "Scream" or "Halloween". The clip has a long shot in the chase scene, where the antagonist using his van are following them. This scene was created to introduce the main villain and to frighten the viewer, who wants to be spooked and wish main heroes to be alive.

The Dark Knight Opening Scene

This clip is the opening of the Dark Knight's film. This clip shows the professional robbery, but something is not going properly how the robbers wanted. We can see that robbers are wearing clown mask, which confirms the stereotype that robbers always wearing mask and they are good at their job (robbery). These robbers are people of Joker's band, because they are wearing clown masks. Mise-en-scene is that these robbers are wearing masks and they are wearing classic office suit. Another example of mise-en-scene is that the main antagonist "Joker" are in creepy make up and he has scars on his face.

The scene with the person who holds his mask, shows that he is an important person. Camera shows only the back of the antagonist, which means the viewer has the big wish to see his face.

Another scene shows that robbers are entering the bank and starting threatening to the workers of the bank and customers too. Camera moves quickly to show the action of the thugs.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone opening scene

The story of the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone tells about a boy who is name is Harry and he has scar on his forehead, which every people identify him that he is Harry Potter. In this universe humans are called "muggles", but the people with magical powers are called "wizards", because beside to humans wizards have magical sticks, where they can do whatever they want. Mise-en-scene shows that people with strange suits are not normal humans, so they are wizards with magical sticks.

Camera shows very important character, he is name is Albus Dumbledor. He is the person, who is holding Harry and planning to give him for a human family. The camera uses close up to show he is face. Mise-en-scene shows that he wears glasses, which  confirms stereotype that he is clever person.
This another example of close up. This scene using close up to this scar, which looks like a flash. These fragment from the opening is important for the film, because of this scar every identify that he is Harry Potter.

Mad Max fury road opening scene

"Mad Max: Fury Road" is the action film which was directed by George Miller. In the beginning we found that Max is very brutal, brave and less talking person, because in action films the main protagonists should be differentiate from other characters. We can see the iconic car of the Max from the old films with Mel Gibson, because the directer of the "Mad Max: Fury Road" is the person who directed old movies about the adventures of Max. The story of "Mad Max: Fury Road" is about the world, where resources of life are finished and the people started killing each other to survive, but the story of Max Rockatansky is about after a long time after the apocalypse, where the main aim of him just survive in this wild desert.

The titles has the dark background to show the red colored word "Fury Road". "Fury Road" word looks melted metal. Also, "Mad Max" has silver style color. The position of this word is behind the word "Fury Road". The title in my opinion , is very manly, because the audience of action films are male people around 25-34 and 15-21. Mise-en-scene are that people of "Immortan Joe" are in white make up in whole of their body  and they are all bald. In the beggining scene we can see that Max has shaggy hair and beard, but after the catching from the thugs they cut his hair and made a nice looking beard, which looks very manly. Another example of mise-en-scene is that lighting of  the film is light orange gamma.

The next scene is far shot of the enemies of the main hero. These are the people of the "Immortan Joe", he is the main antagonist of this film. This scene has effect of danger, because these people are following our hero.
These scene uses the close up to show the engine work of Max's iconic car. This scene has loud sound of Max's engine, which looks very aggresive.
